The workshop aims to broaden your plant knowledge and will include a slide presentation that illustrates best practise. It will cover using grasses, bulbs, annuals, biennials, trees and shrubs to good effect, how to  create and maintain an all year round garden and how to incorporate seasonal containers and baskets.

Spring Workshops

MAKING THE MOST OF ANNUALS AND BIENNIALS FRIDAY APRIL1ST 9.30 – 4.30PM

It is not just about wallflowers and Sweet Williams, there are some amazing easy -to -grow lesser known annuals and biennials, too. In my view they are essential  for an all year round garden  Come along and rediscover old favourites and discover new ones Morning and afternoon refreshments including cake included,please bring  a packed lunch, secateurs, plastic bags and envelopes for seed .

There will be a plants swap (optional) so bring along unwanted or spare plants or seeds if you have any.

Plants  be on sale . Cost £20 Refreshments on arrival,  and afternoon tea are included in the cost of the course but PLEASE BRING A PACKED LUNCH.

TEA WITH MOTHER IN A SPRING GARDEN

MOTHERING SUNDAY APRIL 3RD 2.00-3.15PM  OR 3.30-4.45PM

A SPECIAL AFTERNOON DESIGNED FOR MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS (OR SONS)

 

Bring your mother along  to a spring garden and enjoy tea and cake in the conservatory where you will both enjoy wide reaching views, or sit in the snug kitchen, weather permitting, there are plenty of seats in the garden, too. Spring bulbs should be looking good and the hellebores will still be in bloom. There will be plants for sale. Each mum will be given a small complimentary (flowering) gift  to take home as a reminder of the visit.

 

Strictly limited to 5 couples only per visit so please choose from one of the following times. Arrive at 2pm OR 3.30(stay for up to one and a quarter  hours) Cost £10 per couple

GROW YOUR OWN CUTTING GARDEN  FRIDAY  APRIL 15TH  9.30 – 4.30

 

NOW IS THE TIME TO START OFF YOUR OWN CUTTING GARDEN, HAVE CUT FLOWERS ALMOST THE YEAR ROUND

 

The all day course will cover growing and using annuals, bulbs and tubers, perennials and shrubs to provide all-year round material for cutting.  There will be a propagation session and an optional plant exchange, so bring along secateurs and any surplus plants to swap (please do not worry if you do not have spare plants or seedlings however, there are always plenty to go round!)Cost £20

Now is the time to plant up containers and baskets for the summer but this workshop will also cover how to make the most of many different  variety of containers all year round using a wide range of plants both seasonal and permanent. There will be practical demonstrations and you will go home with bags of ideas and lots of planting ‘recipes’.

As usual there will be plants for sale and an optional plant and seed swap. Cost £20

The ancient world of herbs is fascinating. They are an amazing group of plants woven into myths and stories yet they are still relevant in our modern world and as popular as ever. The workshop e will look at the history of herbs and their place in today's gardens. We will look at different ways   of growing herbs in the garden and will l cover the main groups of herbs used today, how to propagate them and how to use them. There will be a  practical session with the opportunity to take home cuttings and divisions so bring along secateurs and any surplus plants to swap.       Cost £20
